     Downey is just 40 minutes from Pocatello and 2 hours from Salt Lake City, Utah. The route is surrounded with beautiful scenery.
      Coming from the south you will reach the Malad Summit at just over 5,500 ft. elevation. Before you unfolds a panorama of Marsh Valley. Descending the summit you see Marsh Creek, a wide body of water masked by plentiful marshes. The freeway then rises again to the 35 mile long valley plateau formed by the silt, soil, and rock deposit left by the huge flood of Lake Bonneville 14,500 years ago.
       The road from the south, through Inkom, is built upon stacks of black volcanic rock from an ancient volcano east of Lava Hot Springs.

3: Turn RIGHT/EAST onto HWY. 40 - 5 miles
